Volunteers: The Heart of VOKRA

Volunteers are an essential part of our organization. Without their dedication, we could not rescue and find loving homes for the more than 1,400 kittens and cats VOKRA cares for each year. There are many ways to get involved and make a real difference.

A Note About Commitment
We greatly appreciate a six-month commitment from our volunteers. Volunteering is a selfless act that offers the chance to learn new skills, make new friends, and gain a fresh perspective. It has been said that volunteering is not for the faint of heart—it requires dedication, reliability, and a willingness to learn. When you volunteer, you share a part of yourself: your time, your energy, and your unique skills. Volunteering can be a one-time event, or it can become a lifelong passion.

Foster

Become a VOKRA Foster!

VOKRA is always accepting applications from individuals and families who would like to foster within our catchment area, including North and West Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Richmond, Delta, North and South Surrey, White Rock, and South Langley.

Fostering with VOKRA is a team effort: we provide all food, supplies, and equipment, cover all medical costs, and offer ongoing support and advice. Your role is to provide care, attention, and love for the foster cat(s), while keeping VOKRA updated through regular communication with your Foster Support Team.

We offer a variety of fostering situations, including:

  • Bottle feeding kittens

  • Feral kittens

  • Pregnant mothers

  • Mothers with kittens

  • Adult cats (female and male)

Each year, VOKRA needs temporary homes for more than 1,400 kittens and cats! While our busiest season is April to October, we need foster homes year-round to help every cat in need.
